About Great Basin Web

Great Basin Web grew out of Great Basin News, which evolved into Great Basin magazine, an erstwhile literary and environmental quarterly for this region we love. You can see the seven issues we published in our archives. Our writers and readers represented our region well: they were too sparse and far-flung to sustain a print publication. But we were fortunate to begin undertaking this experiment in the early era of the web, in the waning years of the last millennium. So we migrated here, where the vastness of space is not a problem to be overcome, but an opportunity for making connections.

Great Basin Web is an evolving archive of material first printed on dead trees, as well as projects and materials that have been added since, and that continue to be added online.

Jon Christensen, the founder of this endeavor, in print and on the web, is currently editor-at-large of Great Basin Web. Ray March is the editor. Barbara March is the publisher. And Chris Carlsson is the web designer. The iconic panoramas that grace our front page and indexes were produced by Deon Reynolds.

We're eager to hear from you if you have any questions, comments, essays, poems, stories, photographs, art, links, or anything else that you think could contribute to the Great Basin Web.
